Of all the secrets in The Great Tomato Forest gossiped back and forth across the dock by ripening fruits and showy flowers, overheard now and then by busy bees and beavers and nosy hummingbirds and then retold countless times across the marsh and throughout the forest, the best kept one is of the magic that happens when this little girl does the watering and the picking, maneuvering without a touch under the tall canopy, singing her made up siren songs, softly talking in the language only they can understand, a gently made forever memory of her youth on a dock made just for memories, that neither of us will ever forget.
