In my experience, grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins have always formed the heartbeat of family life. Yesterday, my last Uncle, Larry, walked on from covid. At 93, he was a good loving husband and dad to my favorite auntie and his children, my cuzzies. He loved to fish and spent many hours on these very waters looking for the next big one. I knelt by the river this morning, moving slowly in the -8F temperature, where the steam reminded me of the smoke from his pipe, the ice his eyebrows and the intense glowing dawn the light I often saw behind those thick glasses of his. I sure will miss him.
