I have long appreciated the mysteries of the great marsh called Powell, having spent years under the northern lights, seeing ghosts in the fog, even colorful bursts of swamp gases that caused multiple eye-rubbing double-takes accompanying third and fourth second thoughts. But last night at sunset I witnessed this unexplainable lighting of two white pines which appeared on fire while the rest of the trees were in silhouette. Any physicists out there with some sort of explanation would be appreciated although I am content knowing that there are just some things we can’t explain or see if we aren’t out there farting around looking.
