Sometimes peace and quiet is good cover. Just as twilight made its first gentle knocks on the door of last silent night, this lone goose suddenly let out a series of defensive honks and grunts and I heard the familiar sound of the rushing air of a dive-bombing eagle, the low light revealing its pre-dawn sneak attack. Turns out it was simply a low-pass fly by, a wake-up call and a practice run that set off alarm bells and jolted sleepy adrenal glands from their bunks in both the irritated goose and the bumbling photographer on the scene. With death postponed for one and camera strap finally untangled from around the neck of the other, it was back to the peaceful serenity of waiting for another sunrise.
