When I was 12 or 13, one of my first summer jobs was at the “Coffey Grounds”, a family compound here on a local lake inhabited by some of the nicest people I have ever been lucky enough to meet. Even though that job was very short-lived, partially due to my accidentally falling through the ceiling in the master bedroom after sneezing while wrestling with some insulation, these kind people remained friends for a lifetime. Yesterday “Aunt Liz” passed away after a long life-a truly wonderful soul with an infectious giggle and kind heart. Sunset over the Powell yesterday made me think her oversized, bigger than life warmth. We will miss her.
