A passing storm provided a stunning backdrop to this line of birch trees across the little bay, turning the usual first light of morning into an overflowing, delicious Orange Julius. This momentary burst of brilliant color, which quickly faded as the clouds coolly marched past the sun without even one word of acknowledgement (as impolite clouds are known to do), prompted recently returned Orioles, who have spent their first days back quietly chortling and whistling as they fine-tune their long-silent vocal cords, to belt out their best tunes yet in this long-awaited spring.
