There is nothing quite so beautiful as motherhood. As I watched this mom who had been sitting on her eggs for nearly four weeks in Minnesota (females incubate about 70% of the time, males about 30%), she was passing the long hours by gently moving one piece of grass at a time; first from front to back, and then after some more consideration, another piece from this side to the other side, and on and on it went slowly and carefully tucking each one to provide maximum comfort and temperature control, completely attuned to the delicate balance that would insure a successful hatch. A picture of absolute devotion and patience that would make any of us hatchlings thankful. Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mom’s out there!
