I timed it this morning-the stages of a north woods sunrise. Fifteen getting colder by the minutes waiting in the dark gray for some glimmer of hope. Three downhearted minutes thinking I'd been foiled again and should just go up to the house for coffee and my morning smoothie. Twenty seconds of eye-opening surprise and hope as the glow made its first appearance and the clouds obediently aligned. Four minutes 40 tinkled pink(and orange) seconds of tripping over rocks and getting stuck in the muck while once again being visually bowled over with another perfect strike. One minute of marveling at the speed at which the gray returns and the colors disappear altogether. Three minutes walking back up to the house. Twenty minutes trying to convince Carolyn "No THIS was the nicest sunrise in weeks!"
